The short version
Lappice provides account and billing services for askYoutube. askYoutube runs the AI request inside your browser, in your own logged-in ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, or Gemini session. We do not receive, store, or process the prompts, transcripts, or AI responses you send through the extension.
What we collect
- Account data: your email address, used to sign you in and manage your subscription.
- Billing data: handled by Stripe. We store a Stripe customer id and subscription status — never your card details.
- Authentication data: session identifiers and tokens needed to keep you signed in and connect the extension to your account.
- Usage data: send counts and entitlement checks used to enforce free-tier limits, provide Pro access, prevent abuse, and improve the product. This does not include YouTube transcript text, your questions, or AI answers.
What we never collect
Your questions, the transcripts you send, and the AI's answers. Those stay between you and your chosen AI provider.
Extension data handling
The extension locally observes YouTube caption responses so a transcript is available when you use its Ask control; those temporary caption data are not sent to Lappice. It stores pending prompts, local usage counts, and—if you sign in—authentication tokens in the browser's local extension storage. When you choose an AI provider, the extension sends the question, transcript, and source URL to that provider through your existing browser session. Lappice does not receive that content.
How we use and share data
We use account, billing, authentication, and usage data to operate Lappice, provide subscriptions, secure accounts, enforce plan limits, and respond to support or legal requests. We share data with service providers only as needed to run the service, including Supabase for authentication/database services and Stripe for billing. We do not sell personal information.
Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Third-party AI providers
When you use askYoutube with YouTube or an AI provider, your use of those third-party services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Review those policies to understand how they handle the transcript and prompt content you submit to them.
Retention and deletion
We keep account, subscription, and usage records for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and maintain business records. You can sign out of the extension at any time, and you can request account deletion through the available support channel.
Your choices
You can cancel a paid subscription from your dashboard. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to certain processing of your personal information.
